Ballet Class Descriptions

Ballet I / II
This is an introduction to ballet incorporating basic terminology with the positions of the feet, hands and body. It will follow a format which includes basic barre exercise and center practice. Children will also demonstrate skills and combinations traveling across the floor.

The foundation of all dance forms. Body placement, flexibility, balance, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work. This class demonstrates Physical discipline, general body awareness, and control coordinating with elementary technique and terminology. Ballet also helps a child Understand the relationship between music, rhythm and controlled movement with proper ballet technique.

Ballet III / IV / V
New and more complex material will be taught at an accelerated pace. Students will begin to learn basic ballet history and develop a knowledge and great appreciation of the great ballets, classical music and famous dancers. An advanced class combining skills from previous level classes and correlating steps to lengthy and complex combinations with correct technique, extensive terminology and knowledge of the art of ballet itself.


Jazz Class Descriptions

Jazz I / II
This is an energetic class that will include stretching and cardiovascular warm Up along with basic body isolations and coordination exercises using upbeat, popular music.
Basic combinations of rhythmic, percussive movements of traditional jazz style. This is a wonderful way to expand energy and learn to dance at the same time.

Jazz III / IV / V
We challenge our students with many different forms of jazz, all high energy but with different styles. These classes are popular with all ages and provide an added benefit of cardiovascular exercise due to the high level of energy exerted. Jazz class is a fun and fast paced mixture of various techniques. High level of Jumps turns and kicks are emphasised.

 

Hip Hop Class Description

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a blend of today's high energy "street style" Movement. Typically performed to "popular rap music," This style of dance has been sought after by teens, preteens and the "young at heart." The style boasts that everyone is capable of taking part and having fun! Sometimes percussive and other times it incorporates "house or club" dancing, making Hip Hop the lastest Dance phenomenon.

 

Tap Class Descriptions

Tutu Tots 
This is an introduction to tap using basic tap steps and slow music so children can develop a sense of rhythm and learn to count music while dancing at the same time.

Tap (Levels I - IV)
Rhythm patterns for the feet including, standard time steps, percussive styles and rhythms through the more complicated steps of the Tap repertoire.
